SPEED SD-X250

SD-X250 Parallel Knife Folder

An inline parallel knife unit that trims and slits folded leaflets in the same pass as folding. Runs as a module in a folding line or as a stand-alone unit, with 30–90 m/min throughput and a 15 mm maximum finished thickness.

SD-X250 overview

Overview

The SD-X250 is a parallel knife unit rather than a folder: it trims and slits folded work square, either inline behind a folding machine or as a stand-alone unit. Where a job has to finish with a cut edge — pharmaceutical leaflets, saddle-stitched booklets, three-knife trimming lines — it removes the separate offline pass and the re-registration that goes with it.

The blade is manufactured from high-grade alloy steel with precision grinding to deliver clean, burr-free cutting edges and consistent trim accuracy under continuous production.

Specification: 160 × 260 mm maximum feed, 30 × 60 mm minimum feed, up to 15 mm finished thickness, 30–90 m/min, 0.9 kW at 220 V, 1250 × 752 mm, air supply 0.4–0.6 MPa.

Engineering highlights

  • Engineering highlight 1: Trims and slits folded leaflets in the same pass as folding.
  • Engineering highlight 2: Stand-alone module delivers high-precision, burr-free paper cutting.
  • Engineering highlight 3: Can be enabled or disabled independently to match production workflows.
  • Engineering highlight 4: Compatible with most domestic and imported folding-stitching-trimming linked lines.
  • Engineering highlight 5: 30–90 m/min with a 160 × 260 mm maximum feed and 15 mm maximum finished thickness.
  • Engineering highlight 6: 0.9 kW at 220 V; 1250 × 752 mm; air supply 0.4–0.6 MPa.

Folded product applications

Pharmaceutical leaflets

Pharmaceutical leaflets

Folded to carton-insert size from 40–120 gsm pharma paper; the highest-volume pharmaceutical folding job.

Production considerations

Patient information leaflets must fit the carton while retaining readable multi-panel copy. Miniature sheet handling, repeatable fold position and counted delivery are the main production checks.

The T490 and T520 cover leaflet folding; the SD-X250 can trim or slit a finished leaflet when the cut edge is part of the job. Confirm the pattern on the actual stock before specifying the line.

Pharmaceutical outserts

Pharmaceutical outserts

Deep-folded leaflets of 8, 12 or 16 panels that behave like a booklet and must lie flat for packing.

Production considerations

An outsert folds a larger information sheet into a compact, multi-panel piece for a carton. The finished stack must lie flat and feed consistently into packing equipment.

The folding platform and plate arrangement depend on the panel count and sheet. Where required, the SD-X250 trims the folded work and the SD-XP300 presses the finished stack.

Packaging inserts

Packaging inserts

Leaflets and promotional inserts folded to carton size, packed by automatic equipment.

Production considerations

Carton inserts and promotional leaflets are folded to a finished size that downstream equipment can pick up consistently. Square edges and flat stacks may be needed for automatic packing.

T520, T600 or T780 folding configurations can be paired with SD-X250 trimming or SD-XP300 pressing when the finishing requirement calls for them. Confirm the carton and stock before selecting modules.
