Paper Folding Machine FAQ | Folds, Specifications & Lead Time
Find answers about fold patterns, sheet sizes, paper weights, buckle plate counts, optional units, certification, lead time and shipping.
Buying and sample tests
2Can you fold a sample on my own paper before I order?
Yes — that is the normal first step. Send the stock and the pattern and we run it in our fold-test room, then return the folded samples with panel measurements. It is the only reliable way to confirm fold position and whether your paper will crack on the fold line.
What do you need from me to quote a folding machine?
Six things: unfolded sheet size, finished folded size, paper weight in gsm, the fold pattern (or a folded sample), the quantity you run, and whether folding is standalone or inline with stitching, gluing or cartoning. With those we recommend a platform and plate configuration and return a precise quotation rather than a range.
Technical specifications
2Which fold patterns can one machine produce?
One machine makes one fold per pass, so the plate set decides the pattern range: 4–20 buckle plates on the first station and 4–10 on the second. That reaches the 29 patterns in our fold library — parallel, letter, gate, roll, accordion up to ten panels, and cross or combination folds. Confirm your pattern list on a fold test before ordering.
What sheet sizes and paper weights does the range cover?
The buckle platforms (T490, T520, T600) take sheets from 60 × 100 mm up to 600 × 1000 mm in 28–200 gsm with a 180 m/min top speed. The T780 large-format platform takes 150 × 150 mm up to 780 × 1200 mm in 40–210 gsm with 40 mm rollers and 210 m/min.
Applications and integration
2Can the machine be integrated into an existing folding line?
The T520 platform is designed for it: it is inline compatible with a flattening press, parallel cutter, labelling machine, hot-melt gluing unit and vertical stacker, and the SD-X250 knife unit runs either inline or as a stand-alone module. Send the line layout and we will confirm the interfaces.
Do you build machines for pharmaceutical leaflets and outserts?
Yes. The T490 folds miniature 60 × 100 mm leaflets, the T520 adds the heavier duty cycle and inline modules, the SD-X250 parallel knife unit trims and slits the folded leaflet in the same pass, and the SD-XP300 pressing machine removes fold bulge before cartoning. All machines are CE and ISO certified with the documentation required for supplier qualification.
Delivery and service
1What are the certification, warranty and lead-time terms?
Machines are CE and ISO certified and supplied with the technical documentation. Standard production lead time is in the region of 15–20 days plus shipping preparation; the current figure for your configuration is confirmed with the quotation. Commissioning includes operator training, and global on-site installation and after-sales support are available.
